Overview
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) publishes official recruitment notification for the post of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) Non Technical cadre in different states and union territories. The official notification for SSC - MTS examination 2016 will be published on 8 October, 2016 along with official advertisements in local newspapers and rozgar samachar on the same date.
SSC MTS posts can also be called the Group C category posts like Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Farash, Chowkidar, Mali, etc.
Eligible candidates shall be selected for MTS examination through a written examination followed by skill test/typing test. The Commission shall publish advertisements SSC region wise and most of the recruitment processes shall be carried out by the concerned SSC region. Over 20 lakh applications are received every year for SSC MTS posts.

Total number of vacancies: 10,000 plus approximately.
Eligibility
Age limit: 18 to 25 years as on January 1, 2016. A relaxation of 5 years in age limit is provided for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PH category and 6 years for ex-servicemen.
Minimum educational qualification required: For SSC MTS posts all matriculation pass candidates can fill the application.

A word of advice for perspective candidates: Candidates are advised to fill single application form only for SSC MTS posts. Filling multiple application forms for different regions may lead to rejection of application. Application form can be filled only online on the official websites mentioned above. Exam Pattern
Paper 1: The written examination paper 1 of SSC MTS comprises of an objective type question paper which includes questions on, general intelligence and reasoning, numerical knowledge, English and general awareness. Paper 1 of the written examination will carry 150 marks for 150 questions. Negative marks will be given for all incorrect answers and 1 mark shall be deducted for each wrongly answered question. All questions papers will be in both Hindi and English medium.

Syllabus of SSC MTS recruitment paper 1
General intelligence: non-verbal reasoning, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series and non-verbal series, abstract ideas, symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
English language: Grammar, vocabulary, sentence formation, synonyms, antonyms and their correct usage.
Numerical aptitude: Computation of whole numbers, number system, decimals and fractions and relationship between numbers, percentages, fundamental arithmetical operations, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ration and time, time and work etc.
General awareness: General knowledge of current affairs including sports, history, society and culture, geography, economy, Indian politics including the Indian Constitution etc.
Paper 2: Question paper 2 of SSC MTS examination will be descriptive type. Paper 2 carries a total of 50 marks. Paper 2 will be related to essay writing/letter writing in English or any other language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. The sole purpose of paper 2 is to test elementary language skills in view of re-categorization of the post as Group C in view of job requirements. Paper 2 will be held only for the candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in paper 1 for different categories.

Results
The result of the written exam of SSC MTS 2016 shall be announced tentatively in April 2016.
