Overview
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct like every year national level written examination for recruitment of Junior Engineers for Civil, Electrical and Mechanical fields. An official notification for the same will be published in employment news/rozgar samachar on August 20, 2016.
SSC will invite application forms for Junior Engineer for eligible candidates only online. All candidates who are eligible and interested can fill their forms till the last date 16 September, 2016. SSC shall conduct national level examinations for JE posts on 11 December, 2016.
Candidates who will be declared qualified in the written exam for Junior Engineer (JE) will be called for a personal interview. All candidates who are degree or diploma holders in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering are eligible to fill forms for SSC-JE vacancies 2016.
Total number of vacancies: 1,000 approximately.
Pay scale of SSC Junior Engineer: Rs 9,300-34,800 and grade pay Rs 4,200.

Eligibility
Age limit: As on 1 August, 2016 according to what is mentioned in the table above. A relaxation in age limit is provided for SC/ST, OBC and other reserved categories.
Minimum educational qualification required: Degree or diploma in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering.
How To Apply

How to pay the application fee?
Online: Candidates can pay the required fee online via net banking, debit card, credit card, atm card etc.
Offline: Fee can be paid offline by generating a challan after completing Part-I of online registration. The challan can be then deposited at SBI branches.
Prescribed fee
Rs 100 for each application form for general and OBC categories. Fee is exempted for all women candidates and also for SC/ST, physically handicapped and ex-servicemen.
Exam Pattern
Earlier the examination was conducted in two stages.
Written test A (500 marks)
Interview B (100 marks)
As per amendment made in Para 9 regarding scheme of examination, the exams will now consist of a written test only (Paper I and Paper II), as the government of India has discontinued interviews for Junior Engineers vide a notice published in employment news dated 11.07.2015.

Candidates are required to attempt only one part of general engineering in both papers I & II for which they have filled the application form, i.e. in paper I & II for general engineering attempt only one of the parts A (civil and structural), B (electrical) or C (mechanical), failing which he/she would be awarded zero marks.

Date schedule
Online registration for application form submission will start from 20th August, 2016.
Last date of application form submission for Part-I is up to 5 pm on 16th September, 2016 and for Part-II up to 5 pm on 19th September, 2016.
Examination date of SSC JE 2016 is 11th December, 2016.
