A presidential democracy is a system of democracy where an executive branch exists and presides separately from the legislature to which it is not accountable and which cannot in normal circumstances dismiss it.

Following are the features of Presidential Democracy:-

  • The president is both head of state and head of government.
  • The president may not have the ability to legislate directly. He is not a voting member. He may not be allowed to introduce bills.
  • The president has a fixed term of office. Elections are held at scheduled times. President cannot be removed by a vote of confidence or other such parliamentary procedures.
