Mathematics

What is the value of x in the given figure?

$19^\circ$

SOLUTION
From the figure
$90^{\circ}+y^{\circ}+71^{\circ}=180^{\circ}$  (Adjacent angles on  straight line)
$\Rightarrow y={ 180 }^{ \circ }-{ 161 }^{ \circ }\\ \Rightarrow y={ 19 }^{ \circ }$
Now $\angle x=\angle y$   (Vertically opposite angles)
$\Rightarrow x=19^{\circ}$ You're just one step away

Q5 Subjective Medium
Read the following two statements which are taken as axioms:
(i) If two lines intersect each other, then the vertically opposite angles are not equal.
(ii) If a ray stands on a line, then the sum of two adjacent angles so formed is equal to $180^0$.
