Mathematics

Two angles are complementary. One angle is $80\%$ of the other angle. The two angles are

$50^\circ,\, 40^\circ$

SOLUTION
Let one angle be $x$

Other angle $=\dfrac { 80 }{ 100 } \times x=0.8x$

Now the angles are complementary

$\therefore x+0.8x=9{ 0 }^{ \circ }$

$\Rightarrow 1.8x=9{ 0 }^{ \circ }$

$\Rightarrow x=\dfrac { 9{ 0 }^{ \circ } }{ 1.8 } =5{ 0 }^{ \circ }$

So the angles are

$1\times 5{ 0 }^{ \circ }={ 50 }^{ \circ }$

$0.8\times 5{ 0 }^{ \circ }=4{ 0 }^{ \circ }$

You're just one step away
