The President and the Vice-President are part of the Union Executive. In this context, answer the following questions:
Explain briefly any two Legislative and any two Executive powers of the President.


SOLUTION
The two legislative powers of the President of India are as follows: 
1. President has the power to summon or prorogue the two houses of parliament. After a prorogation, the house must be summoned within 6 months. 
2. The President may nominate two members of Anglo Indian Community in the Lok Sabha if he feels that the community is not represented adequately. 

The Executive powers of the President include:
1. The president of India is the nominal head of the executive and all contracts and assurances of the property are made by the Government of India in President’s name. 
2. He appoints the Prime Minister and other members of the Council of Ministers on the advice of the Prime Minister. He appoints the Governors, Ambassadors or High Commissioners, the Chief Justice and other Judges of the Supreme Court as well as of the High Court, the Attorney-General of India and the members of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Election Commission and the Planning Commission.
