The % by volume of $${ C }_{ 4 }{ H }_{ 10 }$$ in a gaseous mixture of $${ C }_{ 4 }{ H }_{ 10 }, { C }H_{ 4 }\ and\ CO$$ is 40. When 200 ml of the mixture is burnt in excess of $$O_{ 4 }$$ produced.

ANSWER

440

SOLUTION
$$C_4H_{10}+\dfrac{13}{2}O_2\rightarrow KO_2+5H_2O$$
$$CO+\dfrac{1}{2}O_2\rightarrow CO_2\uparrow H_2O$$
$$\therefore $$ total volume of $$CO_2$$ produced
$$=4\times volume \,of\, C_4H_{10}$$
$$=1\times (volume \,of \,CO)$$
$$=4\times 80\times 120$$
$$=440ml$$
